In recent years, travelers notebooks have really become popular in the paper notebook/planner world. The Midori™ is extremely popular, and what has become known as the "Fauxdori" has become a staple in many Etsy shops. You can purchase covers for the travelers notebooks for any price you are willing to pay.
A lot of planners like the small size of the notebooks because they fit easily into a purse or backpack, or even in the breast pocket of a jacket.
But they are also being used in more creative ways...bullet journaling for one thing.
And art journaling, for another.
One of my favorite Facebook group admins and Etsy shop owners is Lynne Shikoples, a Canadian designer who creates the most beautiful items for Bible journaling I have ever seen. She usually creates materials in three different sizes, including the traditional travelers notebook size. She puts her journals together page by page and posts the stunning results on her Facebook page, Praise and Pray Journaling, along with others in the group.
I had bought several of her kits but had not joined in with her group because I was journaling with some other groups, but late last summer, I took the plunge. I had a few travelers notebooks, so I decided to use one of them to create my Peace journal. I was in love with the results, but as a lot of people who love to get creative, but detest the mess, I wanted to find a way to take it digital. I actually did a hybrid journal, part digital and part mixed media, but with the distress ink, spray ink, sticker paper and white pen, I had a pretty big mess piled around me.
I decided to do the next journal, which for me in that group, was the Gratitude journal in November. I used a built-in notebook from GoodNotes. And again, I liked the look, but wished it had more of the travelers notebook look.
So last week, it finally hit me--make a digital travelers notebook! Simple.
The traditional travelers notebook is done with either blank, grid or lined pages, depending on what the buyer wants. In general, they are covered in brown kraft paper...very simple, very functional. And I have to say, I love them that way.
But...what if you could put whatever kind of cover you wanted on them? And what if you wanted a combination of all three different kinds of pages? Using Goodnotes, Metamoji Notes or OneNote allows you to duplicate pages so you can have as many of each kind as you want!
Digitally, you can do this so easily. So...I started making travelers journals like there was no tomorrow! And in my Etsy shop, there are a multitude of colors and patterns and I've got a lot more done I haven't uploaded yet.
For those who use apps, such as Procreate, to create beautiful art, these little journals will be the perfect backdrop.
I have to admit, I haven't yet started a journal in one of my notebooks, because I've been having too bloomin' much fun just creating the notebooks. But the day is coming...soon.
And I wanted to give one as a freebie, so in honor of Valentines Day coming up in February, I decided to make one with a red glitter cover for you. It looks like this and you can download it at the bottom of the post.
